Craft Beer Takes New York!

It’s no secret that craft beer has seen explosive growth across America. There are now more than 2,500 breweries either in operation or about to open, and the country’s taste for full, flavorful beers only continues to grow. That trend towards artisanal beer is sweeping through New York City, too, where a number of breweries and many fantastic beer bars are now operating to great success. Some are even right here in Long Island City

craft-beer-photoAlewife  is among the most celebrated beer bars in Long Island City, Queens. Featuring nearly 30 great beers on draft and an impressively creative food menu, it’s a stop that will satisfy anyone, beer lover or not.

Another impressive Long Island City eatery is John Brown Smokehouse, which features great BBQ and a small but carefully cultivated selection of craft beers on tap.

New on the scene but already winning raves for its food is Alobar,  another great establishment not far from Holiday Inn Manhattan View. Their craft beer menu is short but each choice is a winner, and their food is excellent.

Queens is even getting its own breweries! Queens Brewery will soon be opening its doors, while nearby, Singlecut Beersmiths are making a name for themselves as a great new brewery in the area. Throw in great craft brewers in nearby Brooklyn such as Sixpoint and the legendary Brooklyn Brewery and it’s clear that New York is quickly becoming a great beer city – all of it easily accessible from Holiday Inn Manhattan View!
